Hard cheese "Prussia"

"Prussia" 45% FIDM is a hard cheese with mild aroma and flavour. Made from the highest quality cow’s milk, "Prussia" is a cheese with a perfected flavour of pasteurized sweet cream. When ageing, this cheese is packed in black cheese coating, which both provides presentable look and allows the cheese to age naturally. The minimum ageing period: three months. "Prussia" is perfect with wine; it also makes dishes more piquant.

Hard cheese "Žalgiris"

"Žalgiris" is a hard 40% FIDM cheese with expressive aroma and rich fruity taste. During ripening, the fragile structure of the cheese is formed, thus providing pleasant sensations when tasting it. The "Žalgiris" cheese is made from the highest quality milk of Lithuanian cows grazing on the river meadows. Those are the fruits of a long and patient work of the Vilkyškių pieninė employees, since "Žalgiris"’ ripening takes half-year to two years. The cheese ripening is carried out using a special greenish cheese coating, which provides natural ripening conditions. After ageing for a longer period of time, "Žalgiris" becomes more fragile, and its fruity taste becomes more perceptible. This cheese is perfect to accompany wine, fruits, and nuts; you can add it to your favourite dishes, "Žalgiris" will only make them more piquant.

Hard cheese "Legenda"

The hard cheese "Legenda" 45% FIDM has a unique subtle creamy aroma and taste. "Legenda" ripens in the course of four to eight months packed in a special brown cheese coating, which helps to provide the natural ripening conditions. Should "Legenda" be aged for a longer period, you will be able to enjoy its stronger taste and aroma. This cheese is perfect to accompany wine, fruits, and nuts; you can add it to your favourite dishes, "Legenda" will only make them more piquant.

AB Vilkyškių Pieninė is one of the most modern dairy producers in Lithuania. It is the only specialised plant of cheese in the country that produces over 30 different types of cheese according to original recipes, with as many as 10 of them being gourmet. AB Vilkyškių Pieninė, which was founded in 1993, currently holds an 18-percent share of the cheese market and 12-percent share of the fresh dairy products market in Lithuania.

The company went through a few significant stages of expansion and modernization that led to a success both on the domestic market and outside it:

  • Continued investment in technologies (AB Vilkyškių Pieninė invested a total of 80 million LTL since 1999 to late 2011);
  • Particular attention to innovations (in 2011, the Vilkyškių Pieninė group introduced 18 new products);

The group of Vilkyškių Pieninė unites three companies – AB Vilkyškių Pieninė, AB Modest and AB Kelmės Pieninė.

AB Vilkyškių Pieninė produces cheese following the traditional Lithuanian and worldwide recipes, as well as their own original ones. AB Modest produces blue cheese Memel Blue, mozzarella, ricotta and other cheese products. AB Kelmės Pieninė specializes in various fresh dairy products: milk, kefir, butter, curd, sour cream, curd spreads, yogurts, glazed sweet curd snacks, mascarpone.

A large part of the company’s output is exported to such foreign countries as Latvia and Estonia, Scandinavia, Germany, Israel, Russia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland and others. Exports account for 64 percent of the company’s sales.

Great attention is paid to strengthening the company’s position on Lithuanian and foreign markets, increasing the range of products. The market is continually provided with high-quality exclusive products – both cheese and fresh dairy products.
